How the iphone has evolved over the years

> 2007: Apple brought in the smartphone revolution with the introduction of iPhone. The phone debuted with a 2 megapixel camera. The first generation iPhone (also called 2G) was later announced as ‘vintage’ and is now considered ‘obsolete’ in Apple stores.

> 2008: The updated and sleek 3G version of the iPhone came in two variants: 8 GB and 16 GB memory capacity. The phone was released across 21 countries with promises of faster connectivity.

> 2009: Known for its multi-touch interface and improved battery life, the iPhone 3GS had a 3.2 megapixel camera, and was touted to be two times faster than its predecessor, 3G. The 'S' in the model name stands for 'Successor'.

> 2010: Apple launched iPhone 4 with the famed FaceTime video chat service and Retina Display. The phone had 5-megapixel camera and worked on iOS 4. The phone was also the first iPhone model to have two cameras.

> 2011: Apple's iPhone 4S came with a dual-core A5 processor, 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording. Voice-controlled virtual assistant "Siri" also made her debut on the iPhone 4S.

> 2012: The iPhone 5 had a 4-inch "Retina" display, A6 processor, 4G LTE support and a 8 megapixel camera. It was the iPhone with a display larger than 3.5 inches.

> 2013: Apple introduced the A7 chip with 64-bit processor core. Other features include TouchID fingerprint sensor, and support for wide array of 4G LTE bands. Apple then described the iPhone 5S as the "most forward-thinking smartphone in the world," and the iPhone 5C as "the most colorful iPhone yet."

> 2013: Apple introduced iPhone 5C with colourful casing with internal frame made of reinforced steel. It's main features included a A6 processor, and support for wide array of 4G LTE bands.
